If there is nothing exciting in the first book, no one will read the second book.
You need some kind of hook that makes a reader need to keep reading. You could end the first one with the really exciting thing and then focus on the aftermath of said exciting thing in the second book.

I would read horror stories if I were you and see which scenes scare you. You need to figure out what frightens you in a story and then dissect that scene to figure out how the author did it. I'm not telling you to steal or copy their method, but seeing the various ways people elicit fear from words is important to you understanding how you can do the same.

You don't want to make your readers feel fear, you want to make your characters feel it. That means knowing your characters well enough to know what their worst fears are.

Neuroscience has shown us that indeed certain sections of the brain are involved in certain functions, but we all use all of the brain all the time… It's all heavily interconnected save in those rare individuals who have had their corpus callosarum severed to end epileptic seizures.

Likewise the nonsense over "personality types".That's about as accurate as astrology (which is to say not at all) because we are all a mixture of characteristics.
You can't put people into boxes… We are all much more complex than that.

I think Saurez should have been punished by castration using the two bricks method.That would have three advantages over a ban:
1) It would make him less aggressive (well it works with horses)
2) If his problem is hereditary, it would ensure that he didn't pass it on to future generations
3) It would make for excellent prime time TV entertainment
