Asked: Does anyone else utterly hate it when people say ‘he carried them single-handedly’?

It has to be the biggest fallacy in football. The game is a team sport made up of component parts. Clearly some individuals are more influential than others but there's no such thing as single-handedly.

A couple of examples -

Maradona (my favourite ever player) 'single handedly carried a crap Argentina team to World Champions in 1986'…just because you're too ignorant to have heard of the likes of Valdano and Burruchuga doesn't mean they were poor. There were good players throughout that team, just Maradona took them from good to great. He didn't single-handedly win anything. Ditto Napoli where they had the likes of Careca;

Gerrard -single handedly- won Liverpool the CL Final in 2005. He and the rest of the team were being passed off the park in the first half until Hamann came on to shore up the midfield – after that Gerrard and everyone else's game improved ten-fold. Gerrard was excellent in the second half but so were the other players and it was Hamann who changed the game. Dudek was brilliant especially. Gerrard 'single handedly' winning that game is a lie and a complete injustice to the other players in the team.

I know most people don't mean it literally and it's more of an expression or exaggeration, but this 'single-handedly' bollocks really does my head in. It's sheer fantasy and dismisses any idea of football being primarily a team game.

I have this guy in my league who is notorious for being extremely convincing.

He know I'm weak at the backup RB spot so this is his offer to me.

If I give him A.J. Green, Brandon Lloyd

I'll get Jamaal Charles RB from Chiefs, Ben Tate RB from Texans, and Steve Johnson WR from the Bills.

Do you guys think that this is a good trade?

I think I'm okay with Charles splitting carries with Hillis early in the season to keep him fresh and then give him more once the season goes on. Last time Charles got 50% of the carries, he still post a 1,500 yards year. So he should be a solid Flex player for me if not backup RB for McCoy.

Ben Tate, might get more snaps this year even I think so he should be a good RB #3.

The only thing I don't know if Stevie Johnson will be good enough to replace A.J. Green as my #2 WR.

The problem is that if I trade away AJ Green, I don't know if Stevie Johnson, or Eric Decker or Jeremy Maclin can step up and give me double digits game like AJ Green can.

So guys help me. Should I make this trade? or should I go look for better deals elsewhere?

My friend invited me to be in his Fantasy Football leauge, how does it work? Im a dummy when it comes to football so please explain it like your talking to a 6th grader aha.

For crying out loud, it took Fergie seven years to build a title winning team at United. He arrived in 1986 and we won our first Premiership title in the 92-93 season. And it took him four years to win ANY kind of silverware at United (the FA Cup in 1990).

Why the heck do SOME Liverpool fans assume that as soon as they sign a new manager and new players, that's it, they are going to win the title? Rome wasn't built in a day you know!!

The only Liverpool fans who seem to have their heads screwed on correctly seem to be Dan, Delboy and Zapper and they're the ones who are actually knowledgeable about the game!!

Stop living in a fantasy world and we will stop baiting you!!!
